Charity of FateCharity groaned as she continued to push her car towards the closest convenient store.“Come on, just a little further,” she mumbled under her breath.Once she reached the store, she wiped the sweat off her brow, leaning against the car. She was surprised at how much she was sweating, in spite of the freezing temperatures. After Charity caught her breath, she walked into the store. The clerk behind the counter was a scraggly haired teenage boy. His eyes were fixated on her as she walked in.“Heeeey. How may I help you today?” the boy asked, flirtatiously.Charity sighed and rolled her eyes. Boys.“My car broke down and I really need to use your phone to call a mechanic,” Charity answered.“Yeah..I'm going to have to ask my manager,” he responded, and then began walking towards a room behind the counter. Opening the door he shouted “Yo! Lisa!”Out came a stout middle aged woman with graying brown hair.
The One Who SettledShe was wild and spirited,Loved to roam freeNever the one to settleBut life's circumstances tied her down. She finds peace in God,And yet,The chaos still found a way to drag her downTime and time again. If circumstances had been different,Would she have ever married him?If she had known he would become a drunk,Would she have stayed?Once feeling happy and free with him,Now she feels trapped in her own home,In their relationship; With no escape. Many times she has considered running away.Leaving it all behind. But one look into her children's eyes,And she knew she had to stay. Not for her, but for them.Because some things are more important than roaming free.
